Our curriculum is highly personalised to meet each child’s unique needs and EHCP targets. We focus on a functional and practical approach, building core academic skills alongside essential life skills and emotional regulation strategies, ensuring our students are prepared for their next steps.
Our core learning at Redbourn Park consists of English (Writing and Reading), Maths and PSHE.
All of our texts for English and Reading are chosen by pupil voice to ensure high engagement and curiosity in each text. They are age appropriate texts to challenge our pupils. Our Teachers at Redbourn Park, use IXL to assess understanding of Reading and Writing, identifying key gaps for intervention sessions.
Our Maths curriculum uses the White Rose scheme to embed the spiral curriculum, with teachers using IXL also in this subject to assess understanding and identify key gaps in learning.
PSHE follows the same 6 strands for each year and each class, to embed key skills and knowledge for our pupils to be independent and respectful individuals in society.
Please feel free to contact our Deputy Head of Education Emily, if you have any further questions: emily.giddens@redbournpark.co.uk.
The curriculum at KS4 is one that is designed to meet the needs of individuals. We have made our options bespoke, engaging and aspirational. Choosing subjects that we know our students will engage and achieve well in, our main aim is to ensure our KS4 pupils leave us with skills that will set them up for life.
