Welcome From the Founder

We are a small school built with the view to help those most in need. Since opening our doors in 2021 we have grown to two sites, now supporting nearly 30 children between the ages of 7 and 16 (key stage 2, 3 & 4).

Everything we do is underpinned with empathy, and we have built a kind and caring team who understand that safety and understanding must always come first. Once we meet basic needs, support children to feel safe and happy, we meet them where they are at and then look to be ambitious ensuring we support them to reach their full potential.

As Head I am always asked what makes us different: The key difference is empathy.

Taking the time to ensure a high level understanding of our students, their needs, their strengths is something we hold extremely high at every level and in every aspect of what we do. The focus on making the child feel safe extends to them having someone they can talk to, an environment they enjoy being in and interests that entice them to return to a situation they have typically found challenging, even traumatic. Once attending, finding interests, and early levels of learning that are accessible and provide opportunities for success and building confidence and resilience. Once students feel safe, we have met them at their level with empathy, only then are we ready to introduce more typical learning experiences and to be ambitious with academic focuses.

Often, a lesson and day will have multiple children at different levels and having different experiences and feelings that day. Our staff are training to focus on this, and adapt their approaches to create a positive environment where each child can thrive.

We look forward to welcoming you to Redbourn Park.
